Would they come after you personally? I doubt it unless they made new car dealers have you read and sign a licensing agreement.

There was talk about automakers asserting their rights and suing tuners but I never heard any more about it. How many times have you needed to press "Agree" before downloading any software? But we didn't need to sign an agreement to buy the car, did we? So I don't believe the consumer would have a problem, but the tuners might.

I'm sure everyone knows tuner software is merely licensed to you, you don't own it. I don't recall reading any kind of licensing agreement in the owners manual, but it could be there. The comment about VW being able to go after you for capturing their stock software with a flashtool used by some tuners is interesting. JB1 (REV 2) and JB4 have an extra plug but I don't remember what it does.Īnd tailpipes stay pretty clean if you drive like a granny, but fuel enrichment under heavy throttle blackens them fast. They don't allow as much adjustment but are still a solid economy buy. JB4 is the most expensive and sophisticated but still cost less than a flash tune. You have 3 decent piggys to choose from NPM, JB1/4 and Dinan. They merely fool your ECU into thinking it hasn't reached maximum boost. The only "tunes" so far that are undetectable (when removed form the car of course) are piggybacks, since they don't overwrite ECU software. So it doesn't matter if a tuner says they return the "flash counter" back to 1 or even what it was previously, ODIS knows.

As you know, there are times when a dealer flashes your ECU for an update or repair. But the MK7 ECU is able to capture every flash ever done to it, along with the date and whether or not it was done by VW dealer equipment. This was not an issue back in the MK5 or possibly MK6 days (I didn't own a MK6 so I don't know). When the dealer tech submits a claim to VW they must include a scan of your car and a narrative to justify ANY claim. Their new diagnostic/GFF/warranty claim submission equipment is called ODIS. Burnout mode prevents you from over revving the engine while performing a burnout! (Fiesta ST, Focus ST & Mustang Only.I'm glad to see everyone is now aware of VW's capabilities.

  • Burnout Mode: Enabled in OTS (Off the Shelf Maps) This feature allows you to hold the car at a predetermined RPM and perform a burnout.
  • When a map slot is selected by the driver, the ECU will use the corresponding values as defined in each folder.
  • Change Map Slot: Map switching allows for instant changes to several tables inside the vehicles calibration without having to re-flash the ECU! Each "Map Slot" is grouped into a folder found inside the Map Switching Features group.

Enabled in OTS Maps and configurable within Accesstuner Pro.

  • Launch Control: Adjust Launch Control on the fly with 6 pre-configured RPM slots to dial in launch based on track conditions and vehicle configuration.
  • This feature is enabled in COBB OTS maps. Flat Foot Shifting can hold engine RPM at a set RPM between 3000-8000 RPM during shifting.
  • Flat Foot Shift: Improve shift times and keep boost built during shifts.
  • Note: Feature must be enabled in ECU calibration for use.
  • Adjustable Traction Control: Adjust target traction slip on the fly (Slots 1-8) and maximize tire grip to best suit given track conditions (wet/damp/dry/street/slip/burnout/etc).
